Digital Transition In the United States we have used a combination of digital and analog television signals. This makes up the population of TV watchers across the nation. The government is planning on shutting off the analog signal to TVs on June twelfth of this year. This means that people who still use an analog signal will lose signal on their TVs and can’t watch TV. The only ways to counter this is to either switch to a digital cable box or get a converter for your analog signal which is generally cheap to do. But this switch was scheduled for this February but the government passed a bill to delay the switch until June.
The government established in court that it was a good idea to delay the switch. They said that some people aren’t aware of the switch and need some time to switch themselves to the digital signal. Some lawmakers and corporations opposed the delay because they think that no matter how long you wait to switch there’s always going to be someone that didn’t get the memo. So if you shut off the signal now people will realize what happened and will switch to the digital signal because they have to. The only consumers that are in the red zone are people that don’t have a digital cable box or use an analog signal, like an antenna or “bunny ears”. The digital cable hardware gives you a clearer view of what you are watching. Compared to the analog channels it is much clearer. Also you will be given more local channels and more channels overall for yourself to enjoy.
